Ready To Sell? Preparing For Settlement & Settlement Day

By Michael Walkden

Your agent has called you to advise you that the purchasers finance is formally approved and all other conditions are met. Congratulations, your home is now officially sold.

It is important that you continue to stay on top of maintenance and cleanliness of the home, especially in the case of longer settlement periods. It is customary for owners to leave all documents and manuals pertaining to appliances and the home in a kitchen drawer. Your conveyancer will exchange the title of your home for the agreed purchase price on settlement day and you will need to vacate your home that morning, handling the remainder of your keys and remotes over to your agent. Finally, if you have an alarm code that your agent doesn’t know, make sure you tell them so they can advise the new owners.

For a more in-depth conversation or to ask any questions on the settlement process feel free to make contact at any time,
